WALDECK FOOD TRUCK CHANGES

WALDECK - The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

ST. MARY TO HOLD 73RD ANNUAL BAZAAR

ELLINGER - St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger will hold its 73rd annual bazaar Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Community Center in Ellinger. Bidding on the online auction runs through Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. There will be a drive-thru and dine-in fried chicken and sausage dinner with serving beginning at 10:30 a.m. at $15 per plate. Desserts will be available. A prize draw - ing will be held with the grand prize of $5,000 Visa gift card, second prize $2,500 Visa gift card, third prize $1,000 Visa gift card, 14 $500 Visa gift cards and 22 additional prizes. Activities in the hall include a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Zach Novak playing polka music and live mini-auction starting at 1:30 p.m. Items can be viewed at www.stmaryellinger.com.

SPORTING CLAY TOURNAMENT PLANNED

LA GRANGE - The Fayette 4-H Shooting Sports Club is spon soring a Sporting Clay Tournament Saturday Aug. 26 at the Fay- ette County Gun Club at 5338 North Highway 77 in La Grange. ST. JOHN TO HOLD ANNUAL FEAST

FAYETTEVILLE - The Fayetteville St. John The Baptist Cath olic Church will hold their annual picnic on Sunday, Sept. 3, at St.

John's Recreation Hall in Fayetteville. A Mass with Polka music will be held at 10 a.m. with local musicians taking part in the Mass. There will be a barbecue pork and sausage dinner served at 10:30 a.m. Plates to go at the hall and a drive thru line will also be avail - able at 10:30 a.m. Area musicians will provide live music starting at 11 a.m. under the pavilion. Barbecue and sausage burgers will be sold beginning at 1:30 p.m. A country auction including quilts, antiques, coins, etc. will be held at 1:30 p.m. There will be bingo at 2 p.m. in an air conditioned hall and kolaches and other pastries will be available throughout the day. Some attractions include country store, plant wheel, children's games, silent auction, cake wheel, and ice cold refreshments. Fayetteville is right in the middle of the Cen - tral Texas South golden triangle areas and is conveniently located between Austin, Houston and San Antonio.

4-H AND FFA JR. COMMERCIAL HEIFER SALE

LA GRANGE - The annual Jr. commercial heifer sale will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange on Saturday,

Aug. 26, beginning at 1 pm. About 140 head of quality bred heifers will be auctioned. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Come out and

BELLVILLE - The Austin County Fair will be hosting its annual Senior Citizen Day event Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10:30 to 2 p.m. Mark your calendar for a day of fun at the Austin County Fair Convention and Expo Center-Women's Building at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville. The event is for any senior citi - zen 65 years and older. Admission fee of $3, which includes lunch, music, a chance at a door prize and Bingo. NADA - St. Mary's Church (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) in Nada will hold its festival and homecoming Sunday, Sept. 3. NUVFD TO HOLD CELEBRATION

NEW ULM - The New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 72nd Annual Celebration Sunday, Sept. 17 at New Ulm Firemen's Park in New Ulm. The event will be held, rain or shine. Seating is available in the covered dining area. Barbecue beef and pork will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Adult plates are $15 and $8 for children, 6-12. Tea is included with the meal. There will be a drive-thru line for plates to go at 10:30 a.m. The event will include an auction at 1 p.m. with proceeds going to firefighting equipment. There will also be a silent auction. Other events include raffle drawing after auction, gun raffle, Moon walk, kids' games and bake sale.

LIONS DANCE CLUB TO HOLD DANCE

SEALY - The Lions Sealy Dance Club is holding a dance on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at the Sealy American Le - gion Hall in Sealy. Al Sulak and the Country Sounds will provide the music. Guests are always welcome to attend.
