Weimar resident barricades self in with kids

Weimar Police Department found the driver in the 900 block of S. Eagle Street in Weimar.

According to the Weimar PD, the subject refused multiple commands to identify himself, reentered his vehicle and took off and evaded the police in a high-speed chase lasted for 10 miles while officers made every effort to stop his vehicle.

The driver exited his vehicle and entered his residence in the 1000 block of Blacksmith Lane in Weimar and refused to come out of the house.

Information was obtained by the Weimar PD there was a possibility of children inside the house where he had barricaded himself.

The several-hour standoff and threats made toward officers ended peacefully with the subject surrendering.

The subject, Stephen Black of Weimar, was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Public Servant and a Parole Warrant. Assisting the Weimar Police were the Austin County Special Response Team, the Colorado County Sheriff's Office and Tex as Game Wardens.
