CVFD performs difficult rescue

CVFD performs difficult rescue

The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) received a call the morning of Aug. 28 on a rescue call stemming from a person jumping off the I-10 Colorado River Bridge on the westbound side. He fell about 30 feet and landed on the river bank. He sat there since early in the morning. CVFD reported that the rescue was difficult because of the thick woods and underbrush. CVFD used its CanA light rescue unit to get him to where Herman Lifeflight could land. Emergency units from EMS, Sheriff’s Office, OEM, Columbus PD and TxDot helped in the rescue. Standby departments were Bernardo and Eagle Lake fire departments.
