Colorado County Fair exhibits extended 2023 schedule of events

The 45th Colorado County Fair will have an extended fair schedule for the 2023 season, starting with our Junior Livestock Show and Queens Pageant on Sept. 6 Sept. 10 and the Fair & Carnival on Sept. 14-16.

On the first weekend of the fair, starting Thursday at 5 p.m., Sept. 7, the fairgrounds on stage in the Founders Hall, we will be holding the Little Miss, Little Mister, Jr Miss, Jr Queen and our Fair Queen Pageant.

This event is open to the public and can be attended at no cost to attendees. The same weekend the Junior Livestock Show will be hosting the Market Steers, Commercial Heifers, Bucket Calf, Pen of Two Heifers, Market Hogs, Market Lambs, Open Junior Lamb Show, Open Junior Market Lamb Prospect Show, Market Goats, Open Junior Goat Prospect Show, Broilers, Fryer Rabbits, Scramble Projects, Hard Luck Projects, Colorado County Junior Beef Heifer Show, 4-H and FFA Livestock Judging Contest, and the Agricultural Mechanics Project Show.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, we will have the Buyer Appreciation Dinner at 11 a.m., followed by the big event, the Junior Sale, at 1 p.m.! The Junior Sale is open to the community, and those in attendance can support the kid’s animals or projects by purchasing in an auction-style sale. It is open to the public, so please join us on this important day.

If you cannot buy but would like to support the kids, there will be an add-on table at the event.

Starting Sept. 14, the Colorado County Fair will kick off with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. at the flag poles. Then, we will begin the Senior Citizen Day with band, lunch, and activities. Thursday night is Polka and Waltz music.

The Carnival will be open, and we will crown the Colorado County Fair Ticket Queen on the Main Stage. The Rodeo will have a Ranch Rodeo event, vendors/ food booths will be set up for shopping, and the Founders Hall will be open for viewing.

The Founders Hall will display the Home Economics projects, School Art from around the county, Photography, and the Quilt Show.

Friday night will be Go Tejano Night. The rodeo will have the mutton bustin’, and CRPA rodeo on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday, we will start the day with a parade at 10 a.m. at the courthouse square, a car show at the grounds, a mini-rod tractor and engine show, the Founder’s Hall will have events, winners of the BBQ contest will be announced, pet show, and so much more.

Saturday Night will start with the Locals Band Night and our headliner, Thompson Square, known for their #1 hit “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not.”

The Colorado County Fair is a good old-fashioned county fair located at 1146 Crossroads Blvd. in Columbus.

Come out and join us on the second and third weekend in September.
