Republican Picnic results tallied

HAIRMAN Most importantly, thanks to all who either attended or contributed something to make the event a success. We had over 100 guests who braved the weather and got to meet some of the judicial candidates, meet with our party vice chair, Dana Myers and her husband Jon Spiers, and Convention of States Co-Founder Mark Meckler.

Thanks to the Boy Scouts from Industry, Bellville, and Sealy for their contribution to the opening ceremony, presentation of the flags, invocation, and pledges to the flags.

Special thanks to Sen Kolkhorst, Ken Turner, Tim Greeson, Tom Maynard, Phenix Knives, and Marilyn and Max Lang for live auction items, and to all the rest of you who donated items for silent auction and door prizes.

Additionally, we need to recognize Brent and Kelli Southwell, who graciously hosted this event again this year, and made a large donation to the party. Congressman McCaul also donated $2,500 to the success of this event which is most appreciated.

I have always looked at the picnic as a break-even event fi nancially and large donations are a welcome addition. Ticket sales and auction items have always paid all the costs with a little left over and this year in spite of lower attendance was no exception.

Income, excluding donations, was $6,790 from ticket sales. The live auction netted $3,140, the silent auction was $900, and other monies collected were $50.

Expenses were $6,512 for advertising was $2,220, food costs $1,753, rental $2,472, and other miscellaneous expenses were $67.

Net is $278 to the positive. Including $7510 in donations, the total income was $7787.

Another great event is now past, and planning starts for the 2024 banquet. The first order of business for that event is finding a speaker. If you have any ideas on who you want to hear, please make sure to send me their name and we will include them in the list of candidates.
