Woodlands Christian Cross Country Meet held on the campus, Saturday, August 26 was the second meet for the Faith Academy Cross Country team.
Forty teams and over 800 runners converged on the campus at 6:30am. This was in order to complete the meet as early as possible to alleviate the kids running in temperature's that are too hot and not allowed by the UIL and other athletic organizations. Challenges the runners faced on the course were dust and sand.
Eight divisions were offered for the runners to compete in. The Varsity Boy's 5000 Meters started the meet off. Ninety-seven runners left the starting line to face a difficult hill in the first mile and then looped around the Jones State Forest which is behind the campus.
Sophomore Ethan Stegent remained in the top 15 running throughout the race and came across the finish line with a time of 18:43 and finished 12th earn ing a medal.
Freshman Johnathan Tarver ran in the Boy's 3200 JV race and finished with a strong sprint coming across the finish line 37th, against 101 runners and ran a 14:26.
Noelle Walker raced with 98 runners in the Girl's 3200 JV race, placed 36th running a 17:14 and had a very impressive fin ish, while teammate Kensington Walker, a freshman, wasn't far behind finishing 44th and run - ning an 18:20. In the Junior High Boy's Division 2, in the 1600 meter race, Everett Miglicco, sixth grade, ran in his first Cross Country Meet.
There were 188 runners and he finished 55th with a mile time of 6:33.
The Knights will be running in Bellville on Saturday, September 2nd at the Bellville Booster Club Cross Country Meet, held at the Bellville Golf Course.
Player of the week, Ethan Stegent, the top runner for the school ran in his first meet this season at the Woodlands Christian Meet. He was in the Boy's 5000m Varsity race. There were 98 runners. Stegent held on to his position throughout the three miles remaining in the top 15.
He came across the finish line in 12th place and ran an 18:43.
