SCHULENBURG – Theodore Stanzel, is stepping down from the Stanzel Family Foundation Board of Directors after serving for 33 years.

Since joining the Stanzel Family Foundation Board of Directors in 1990, Stanzel has been a pillar of leadership and dedication throughout his tenure.

Over the years, he has served with distinction as the board president, vice president and finance committee mem -ber. During his time with the foundation, Stanzel was especially passionate about supporting local students through scholarships.

Stanzel was born in 1929 on the family farm near Ammansville, to Edward and Stephanie Stanzel. He has always been committed to community service.

In 1948, Stanzel was invited to join the Victor Stanzel Co. by his uncle Victor after his high school graduation. However, Stanzel chose a different path, enlisting for four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. During his time in the service, he earned the rank of staff sergeant and served as a clerk typist during the Occupation of Germany.

After his discharge from the Air Force, he attended The University of Texas where he obtained a bachelor of science in geology and later attended Tulsa University where he earned a master’s in engineering management. He spent 30 years working as a geologist before retiring in 1986.

Once he returned to Schulenburg, he worked for the Victor Stanzel Co. from July 1990 until 2006, serving as the president of the company from 19972006. He married Wanda Beaudry Stanzel in 2011 and they enjoyed 10 years of marriage.

Outside of the Stanzel Family Foundation, he is a very active member of the community. He is part of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Schulenburg Public Library Steering Committee and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg.

As Stanzel transitions from his role on the Stanzel Family Foundation Board of Directors, his enduring legacy of service and leadership will continue to inspire and guide all those who have had the privilege of working alongside him.
