LA GRANGE — Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek announced the appointed of a new jail administrator at the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Holly Smith will be the first female jail administrator for Fayette County. Smith replaced Edward Sawyer, who retired earlier this month.

Smith served 18 years in the United States Air Force and previously spent 10 years working various positions at the Colorado County Sheriff's Office ranging from jailer to patrol deputy to assistant jail administrator.

Smith had been working as a patrol deputy at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for the past year and a half. She currently holds both Master Peace Offi cer and Jailer licenses.

According to Korenek, changes and new ideas are daily being communicated and this is a great and positive move to prepare for the future of the jail at our sheriff's office.
