WEIMAR Researcher and author, Charles Hebert, will discuss his book, On the Run, Thursday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m., at the United Church Fellowship Hall in Weimar.
Hebert’s presentation is an engaging re-telling of the events in Texas and our area circa 1790-- 1836.
The stories related by Hebert are based on extensive research of the diaries of Santa Anna, Sam Houston, and those involved in the Runaway Scrape.
The presentation not only chronicles the events of a tumul tuous time in our state’s history but also captivates the audience with displays of authentic and unusual pieces Hebert has collected from the era.
Hebert and his wife, Sylvia retired to La Grange in 2015 from their previous professions as school administrators.
They soon became involved in the history of Fayette and sur- rounding counties which eventually resulted in his books: The Kreisches of Fayette County: The Remarkable Sto ry of a Remarkable Family, On the Run, Butternut and Gray, Snowden, Snowden vol. 2.
In addition to writing, Hebert has presented to numerous civic, historical and state associations.
His easy-going style engages audiences of all ages, bringing history to life and introducing many little-known facts into a captivating presentation.
Hebert will launch his latest book, Snowden Vol. 2 in October.
