Court discusses fraud protection

RESS COLUMBUS – Colorado County Commissioners Court met again for the second regular meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 23. The court moved smoothly through the agenda items with only a few lingering discussions. Mark Hutton from Fidlar Technologies gave a pre sentation and answered ques- tions regarding a Property Fraud Alert Services Agreement for the County Clerk's Office. This vital records notification system will help land and property owners' awareness of any record filed in their name with the county clerk. It will create more security for the property owners in Colorado County, making them aware of anything filed in their name.

The court gave the authori- zation to add Barracuda email protection services, which was approved in the last budget cy cle, to the county email system.

Another topic of discussion was the county policy regarding county funding of expenses and compensation as well as employ ee accountability for Roads and Bridges employees obtaining a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Precinct 2, Commission- er Ryan Brandt brought up this topic for discussion because he wants to implement this right away and wanted to bring the item before the court to clarify the policy. The court chose to put policies in place so employ ees can obtain their CDL while working for the county and not have to pay or take personal time for the training. The employees will have to then sign an agreement saying they will continue working for the county for a set amount of time after obtaining the CDL.

All other items on the agenda were regarding membership re newals, date setting and consent items.
