EAGLE LAKE — Eagle Lake was the stopping place for a car chase that began in Hallettsville and landed inside a barn off the 2000 block of FM 3013 in Eagle Lake. The high-speed chase be -
gan around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 20 with a white 2011 Escalade trav -
eling up to 120 m.p.h.
Colorado County, DPS, Game Warden and Eagle Lake police intercepted and help cut short the brazen disregard for life with high speed and driving in the wrong lanes. Spikes laid out by the Colorado County Sheriff's Office near Rock Island and Al -
tair failed to render the car inop erable.
The vehicle continued through Eagle Lake proper at high speed only to crash out into a barn.
Halletsville PD arrested Alan Zavala, 17, of Rosharon and was charged with evading with a motor vehicle and aggravated as- sault with a deadly weapon. His mother owns the vehicle driven by Zavala and the passenger, aged 16, was a runaway. Chief Kris Abbott said his department will be filing charges for the vi olations incurred when Zavala entered the city limits.
