BELLVILLE — The Faith Academy Knights welcomed the Hill Country Christian Rams at SAB stadium for their first home game of the young season. It was a battle from the beginning with both teams scoring two times in- side the first 2 minutes. When the dust settled, the Rams prevailed against a young Knights team, 82-48.

Senior Luke Wicklein stepped up in the contest scoring three TDs and throwing another. His TDs were receptions of 48 yards (on the first play from scrim mage), and 39 yards, both coming from sophomore Christian Pillow. Wicklein’s run came late in the third quarter from 58 yards. His first passing TD of his career went to fellow senior, Car- ter Findeisen; also his first TD of his career. That pass pushed Wicklein over the 250 yard mark of total offense on the evening.

Junior Travis Woodley had two scores in the contest; a catch of 42 yards and a run of 18 yards.

Woodley also lead the defensive march with 13 tackles. Due to a late-day illness, he had to take frequent breaks, allowing freshmen Wyatt Davis, Kelton Galle, and Dyllan Olivares to step up and earn them some time. Davis lead the young group with seven tackles.

“We were just holding on for dear life at the end. We had five players not here from illnesses and other obligations, and losing both QBs to injuries in the game, the young guys had to show us what they had. I’m extremely proud of the way they responded and stepped up for their team.

They played with a lot of heart.

We had people playing positions they’ve never played, including Luke at QB. But that shows you what this group is willing to go through together. We will bounce back BIG this week.”

The Knights will travel to Taylor St. Mary’s for an away game Friday night at 7 p.m.

Wicklein was chosen as player of the week.
