LA GRANGE — This month is the opry’s annual tribute to the late and great Hank Williams Sr. who would have turned 100 years old this month. Portraying Hank Williams the opry is proud to have young Wyatt Aleman sing and play songs by the late and great Hank Williams.
Aleman is an 18-year-old from Harwood, who is going into his senior year at Lighthouse Christian Academy and is excited about designing his own senior ring! He loves to play traditional country and western swing music. Two of his favorite artists are Hank Williams Sr. and Bob Wills.
Ever since Aleman started playing fiddle, he has been bless ed with some very memorable events. It was about five years ago when he was asked to perform a show with none other than steele player, Herb Remington, one of Bob Wills’ original Texas Playboys.
Then, this past March, he was asked to perform the “Blue Cadillac Concert Series” in Montgomery, Ala., at the Hank Williams Museum. What an honor it was for him to perform “live” in front of Hank’s blue cadillac, which was Hank’s last ride.
He has also been blessed to have been nominated as “Young Artist of the Year”, by the AWA, Academy of Western Artists, in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He won the title of “Young Artist of the Year” in 2018.
It has now been eight years since Aleman started playing fiddle and he still loves it as much as the first day he picked it up.
Since then, he has taught himself to play the guitar for the last three years and has also been teaching himself steele guitar for almost two years.
If you think it stops there, not quite, he has since bought himself an upright bass, about 10 months ago, and is teaching himself on it as well.
He plans on going to college and becoming a music teacher and having his own music studio to teach music lessons.
He says music fills his heart and soul and he wants others to be able to share that same feeling too.
So be sure to be at the opry on Monday, Sept. 20 for the annual tribute to the late and great Hank Williams Sr.
