Lady Shorthorns catching fire in volleyball

After making a state tournament appearance last year, Schulenburg volleyball is headed toward the same path after a streak of wins over the past couple weeks. The Lady Horns now have a record above .500 with some cushion and recently went on a five-game win streak with victories against Fayetteville, La Grange, Waelder, Lexington, and Round Top-Carmine. Three of those wins were sweeps and the win against Round Top is a quality one. Even though Round Top is a class below Schulenburg in 1A, the Cubettes have been ranked in the top 10 for the TGCA Volleyball Poll throughout the entire season.

Schulenburg is led by head coach Donald Zapalac, who has tons of quality experience, but they also have superior personnel with senior libero Kieryn Adams and hitters such as Emmrie Marx, Jessalyn Gipson, and middle blocker Meredith Magliolo, who is also known for swatting down kills. As it’s still way early in the season, Schulenburg is now on track to make a second-straight appearance to Garland for states.
