What has officially been declared the largest tree in Texas by the Texas Forrest Service, an approximately 500-year-old live oak tree lost one of its massive limbs on Sept. 8. The tree sits on private property on Walnut Street in Columbus. There was no wind present that day for it to shed a bow. The celebrity live oak is regularly visited by people from far and wide. Does this negate the claim to fame and one of Columbus’ tourist draws?
