Eagle Lake declared sanctuary city

EAGLE LAKE – During a regular city council meeting on Aug. 8, the Eagle Lake City Council approved a resolution to make the City of Eagle Lake a Second Amendment Sanctuary City.

EAGLE LAKE — During a regular city council meeting on Aug. 8, the Eagle Lake City Council approved a resolution to make the City of Eagle Lake a Second Amendment Sanctuary City.

Making the formal adoption of Resolution R2023-10, Eagle Lake stands against federal gun legislation.

Mayor Tim Kelley and the Eagle Lake City Council acted upon what is the encroachment of the Federal Government and its anti-gun laws as it attempts to chip away at the nations Second Amendment Constitutional rights.

Under the resolution, if the city feels the federal government has overstepped its bounds and infringed on the rights of its resident’s constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms, then local authorities will not enforce those laws.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the Second Amendment Sanctuary Act on June 16, 2021.

Nearly 50 counties in Texas have since declared itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary City.
