Stolen equipment located in Garwood

GARWOOD – Colorado County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Troy Neisner reports that stolen equipment on private property in Garwood was recovered on Jan. 23.

GARWOOD — Colorado County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Troy Neisner reports that stolen equipment on private property in Garwood was recovered on Jan. 23.

Investigator Justin Lindemann received a lead on the stolen equipment and he began an immediate investigation and obtained a warrant to search the 6500 block of Highway 71 in Garwood.

Investigator Lindemann, along with Investigator Andrew Weido searched the property and recov ered a stolen John Deer backhoe valued at $85,000 that was reported stolen out of Houston.

The investigators also recovered two trailers that were believed to be stolen.

The trailers had their public identification numbers gone. One of the trailer's owners did not even realize their trailer was stolen.

Construction and farm equip ment theft is a major criminal en- terprise. It is a high-dollar theft that, at times, leaves no trace.
