WALDECK FOOD TRUCK CHANGES
WALDECK - The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

HOSTYN FESTIVAL PLANNED
HOSTYN - Queen of the Holy Parish Hostyn Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 1. This is the 192nd anniversary of the first Mass celebrated in Hostyn. Mass begins at 10 a.m. outdoors under the tent. The Hostyn style dinner, including fried chicken and sausage, will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in the drive-thru line from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at $14 per plate. Hamburgers will be available after 3 p.m. An auction will begin at 1 p.m. The event will also include a country store, drawings, cake and plant walk. Music will be provided by Czech Melody Masters from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Dujka Brothers from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 936 FM 2436, 6miles south of La Grange off Highway 77. MENTZ PICNIC TO BE HELD
MENTZ - St. Roch Catholic Church will hold its 168th annual Mentz Picnic Sunday, Oct. 1. Sacrifice of the Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Barbecue beef, pork and sausage will be served at 11 a.m. at $15 for dine in and plates-to-go, and children 10 and under $10. Hamburgers will be available at 2 p.m. Live auction will begin at 1 p.m. The event will include plent of kids activites, country store and drawing. Bingo will be from 1 to 5 p.m., dance inside by Blue Denim from noon to 4 p.m. A cornhole tournament atarts ar 4 p.m. at $40 per team.

BELLVILLE - The Austin County Fair will be hosting its annual Senior Citizen Day event Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10:30 to 2 p.m. Mark your calendar for a day of fun at the Austin County Fair Convention and Expo Center-Women's Building at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville. The event is for any senior citi - zen 65 years and older. Admission fee of $3, which includes lunch, music, a chance at a door prize and Bingo. Everyone is welcome to stay after 2 p.m. and check out the country store and fair exhibits until the gates close that night. SIMMONS/LEMONS/ADAMS FAMILY REUNION SET
HALLETTSVILLE - The Simmons, Lemons and Adams Annual Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Blase's Hall in Hallettsville,. Blase's is located 9 miles east of Shiner and approximate 3 1/2 miles west of Halletts - ville. Any descendants that reside in Lavaca, Victoria, Harris, Tra - vis, Bexar, Fayette, Dallas, Wharton, Caldwell and any other sur - rounding Texas counties are encouraged to attend. Please bring desserts, vegetables, a raffle gift, yourself and others. Scholarship winners will be announced during this time. The theme for 2023 is "The Lord is Our Keeper." This year the contest is "The Best Dressed Texan." There will be four age groups and cash prizes awarded in each age group. Each winner must be a descendant of either the Simmons, Lemons or Adams.
