EAGLE LAKE — The Eagle Lake United Women of Faith recently welcomed special speakers Odette Elliston, left, and Denise Sklar, who spoke about Lighthouse Eagle Lake at the Rice Medical Center.
Elliston serves as the director of this Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program and Sklar is the assessment coordinator. Lighthouse is for older adults in the community who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, psychosis or other behavioral difficulties.
The Lighthouse is a beacon of hope during the rough waters of aging, providing caring, compassionate, supportive services for senior mental health needs. The program features group ther- apy four days per week, filled with information, coping skills, and activities to address mental health needs.
Also included is individual and/or family therapy, oversight and medication management by a board certified psychiatrist, safe and compassionate care by the team of providers and nutritious meals on those four days.
