Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Sept. 16, Deputy James Ulbig was dispatched to a residence on Old Plum Highway regarding USPS locating narcotics in a mailbox. Upon Deputy Ulbig’s arrival, the narcotics had been removed.
To follow up on the case, Ulbig tried to speak with a subject outside of the residence, who had mail in his hands. Deputy Ulbig could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the person. The subject tried to flee and resisted Deputy Ulbig. The subject was able to run into a residence on the property.
Deputies Jared Michalec, Terry Guentert and the Fayette County Narcotics Unit arrived on the scene to assist. The subject eventually came outside from the residence. Tthe subject admitted to having narcotics in his vehicle and handed over narcotics to the deputies. A search of the vehicle rendered other narcotics and paraphernalia.
Keaton Sullivan, 20, of La Grange, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Evading Arrest/ Detention, and Resisting Arrest/ Transport and was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange without incident.
