WEIMAR — Schulenburg/ Weimar Parents as Teachers (PAT) is hosting their Hats Off to PAT fundraiser Saturday, Feb. at Swiss Alp Dance Hall in Schulenburg.

PAT hosts this annual fundraiser to sustain its mission of supporting parents through their child's early life. The fundraiser will consist of a chicken and prime rib dinner provided by Mikeskas Bar-B-Q. After dinner, there will be a live auction with five items, then music provided by Michael Mach and dancing followed by a break to play heads & tails, a dice game and a raffle drawing. There will also be items up for grabs in an online auction ending on Feb. 5.

This year the theme of the fundraiser is Hats Off to PAT as the organization gives a big hats off to the community for supporting PAT for more than 20 years. During this time, an entire generation of local families has been impacted by PAT.

Last year, the PAT dinner had a total of 160 attendees and raised a total of $72,880. $31,855 of that was from the silent and live auctions with 99 items sold and 128 registered bidders.

PAT’s mission is to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. Children’s development from the earliest years lays the foundation for what follows. In the U.S., six out of 10 kids show up to kindergarten unprepared to learn. As their child's first and most important teacher, parents play a crucial role in supporting school readiness.

Communities need a proven intervention that better supports parents in promoting their child’s health, early development and learning.
