COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Appraisal District Board unanamously named Jane Armontrout as its interim chief appraiser on Sept. 26. Armontrout replaces another interim who resigned because of family health reasons.
Armontrout was employed with the Colorado County Appraisal District from 1983 to 2022. She worked in Lavaca County from 2022 to the present when she will take over the helm on Oct. 10.
She comes with a vast amount of experience in working with people who live in Colorado County. Her positive attitude reflects her approach to how she wants to lead the district.
Armontrout's first priority is get ting the appraisals in line where they should be. She will have the appraisers out adding all the new improvements in the county for 2024. She stated she is amazed at how many new homes have been added to Colorado County since she left.
She is matter of fact when it comes to her job.“I have been hired to do a job and I intend to perform my job to the best of my ability. This office will provide great customer service and treat all taxpayers fair and equal,” said Armontrout.
With her experience working with the county and her can-do attitude, this may be just what is needed.
