GIDDINGS — The La Grange High School girls soccer team went down to Giddings High School January 23 at Buffaloes Field by a final score of 5-0. Giddings scored two goals in the first half and didn’t look back, scoring three more in the second half with their high-powered offense. "I think that we're just still kind of trying to figure things out in some areas,” said La Grange head girls soccer coach Lauren Hubbert.

“We have some weak spots

that Giddings definitely found and they absolutely took advan tage of that. I got to give it to them. They've got a great team.

They’ve got some solid athletes, they got all sorts of speed. At the end of the day, I think they kind of wanted it more. They're on their home turf, they’re on their home field and you can just kind of see there was definitely a difference, I feel like, in just the effort that was given. Not to take away from my girls or anything. They just kind of brought it a little bit more than we did. At the end of the day, it's a learning opportunity.

We know what we need to work on. We've got things that kind of were shown in this game that we’ll work on continuing going forward. At the end of the day, I love my girls. They're a great group of kiddos. They're coming out, they’re trying hard, and I’m gonna praise them til the end of time for their ability to keep their composure in tough situations. I'm just thankful I don't have a team that completely falls apart when we're facing a 5-0 loss. It hurts because I know how good we are and how good we can be and I know that they know that as well, but we’re gonna take it and we’re gonna keep moving for ward with it. We'll get where we need to be. We still got one more game against them and hopefully we get the outcome we’re looking for in that one." After Giddings scored two goals in the first half, they quick- ly scored in the beginning of the second half on a fast break to make it 3-0. A few minutes later, La Grange nearly scored a goal as the ball almost made it past the Giddings goalie while having to run back toward the net to save it.

The Lady Buffaloes scored their fourth goal in the 28th minute of the second half that was followed by a hard shot on goal at the 17 and a half minute mark, then a nice cross and shot attempt that was saved by La Grange with 10:40 to play before scoring their fifth and final goal about a minute later to eventually win 5-0.
