Alley running for Colorado County Sheriff

My name is Lawanda “Wendy” Alley and I am currently running for Sheriff of Colorado County. You read that right, my legal first name is Lawanda, but most of you have known me as Wendy Alley my whole life. I would appreciate your support and vote in the upcoming Repub lican primary election on March 5, 2024.

I have 24 years of law enforcement experience, all served with- in Colorado County. I began my law enforcement career in 1999, when I was hired by former Po - lice Chief Keith Webb of the Eagle Lake Police Department. Keith Webb is now my official campaign treasurer.

While working for the ELPD, I promoted in rank from Patrol Officer to Investigator to Patrol Sergeant and then to Lieutenant. After several years, I took a posi- tion at the Weimar Police Depart - ment as Patrol Sergeant. Finally in 2011, I was offered a position with the Columbus Police De partment as an Investigator and worked my way up to my current position of Police Captain. During the past 24 years of ser vice, I have had the opportunity to help numerous families and to meet some of the most kind and caring citizens. I would like to continue this legacy of community, integrity, and commitment, as your Sheriff.

I was born and raised in Ea gle Lake, Texas. When my parents moved from Eagle Lake to Alleyton, I became a Columbus Cardinal, but half of my heart will always belong to the Rice Raiders.

My husband, Patrick "PJ" Mladenka, is a 21-year veteran Senior Corporal Trooper for the Texas Highway Patrol. PJ and I live on a little farm we call the “10-42 Ranch”. Together we raised our two children and we are blessed with two precious grandchildren.

Besides spending time on the farm with my family, I fish as of ten as I can and I am also a nov- ice beekeeper with an apiary of four hives.

I believe I could help foster a sense of community, promote victim advocacy, help foster new partnerships, and create a renewed trust in law enforcement through active participation, training, and hard work.

With strong beliefs that com munity is where it starts, I want to be a leader in this community demonstrating integrity, and the commitment I have shown and fostered throughout my last 24 years as a public servant. I would like to take that commitment to introduce new initiatives and growth in Colorado County. I’ve led by example for many years, and with your vote, many more years to come.

A little Alley family history — my 3rd great grandparents, Abraham & Nancy Alley, were a part of the original 300 settlers that came to Colorado County with Stephen F. Austin. Their log cabin sits on display across from Dewberry Cafe on Bowie Street in Columbus. My 3rd great un cle, Thomas V. Alley, was the very first Constable in the State of Texas.

I have the honor of being en -

dorsed by my former Police Chiefs, Keith Webb (Eagle

Lake), W.E. “Bill” Lattimore

(Eagle Lake & Columbus), and Bill Livingston (Weimar).

Thank you for your support.
