ROUND TOP — Once again, the area‘s most German event will be showcased at the Round Top Schuetzen Verein, aka Round Top Rifle Assn. This is the annual OktoBierFest, which has been growing by leaps and bounds.
The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m., and sausage, Kassler pork chops, sauerkraut, pretzels, and German potatoes are already cooking, and the first kegs of German Bier are tapped.
In keeping with the German tradition of Frühschoppen (earlydrinking) festival-goers are invited to a cool Oktoberfest Bier and some fresh grilled sausage to begin the day!
The 20-piece Round Top Brass Band will kick off the musicaljourney for the day at 11 a.m., followed by Auf Geht‘s German party band from Houston, and Jason Keepers, a yodeler from Frelsburg.
At noon, the Ceremonial Keg will be tapped, and free Bier served to all.
Stein holding contests for guys and gals are on tap and the traditional “Sauf Maschine” (drinking machine) will be featured.
Entry is free. You are invited to wear your lederhosen and dirndls to further enhance the ambiance of the day.
Entertainment ends at 7 p.m.
