WALLIS — Cougars football had a rough night and was shut out by Tidehaven High School Oct. 13 at Cougars Field with a final score of 34-0. After a scoreless first quarter, Tidehaven put on the points and scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, then continued moving the ball and kept their defense intact while not allowing a point.

“They’re the number four team in the state for a reason,” said Brazos head football coach Ryan Roecker.

“They’re big, they’re fast, they’re physical, but it was a zero-zero ball game. Our guys stood toe-to-toe with them and battled. The good thing is, we played eight games now. We get a bye week before we got to win two games, so all very doable.

Anytime the red and black suits out, we’re proud to be there and proud to coach them. The effort our guys showed tonight is undeniable.”

After neither team scored in the first quarter, Tidehaven found the end zone three times on two rushing touchdowns and one passing to take a 20-0 lead at halftime with runs of 16 yards and one yard, then a 20 yard catch in the right corner of the end zone.

Tidehaven sophomore running back Bryce Silva added to the mix in the third quarter with a 10 yard run at the 7:23 mark in the third quarter, giving his team a 27-0 lead. The Tigers scored their final touchdown in the fourth quarter, which came from a 3 yard run with 9:17 to play by senior running back Joseph Dodds. Tidehaven put it in cruise control and eventually went into victory formation to seal a 34-0 win.
