COLUMBUS — Columbus Community Hospital’s state-ofthe- art 2D digital mammography equipment produces clear images for excellent breast cancer screenings, providing a reliable resource for early detection close to home as Breast Cancer Awareness Month heightens attention around the importance of scheduling a mammogram.

Columbus Community Hospital is designated as a Mammography Accredited Facility by the American College of Radiology, a distinction earned by medical practices with experienced and qualified staff who maintain ex cellence in every aspect of mammography services.

“We believe patients in Columbus and surrounding communities deserve the best care and state-of-the-art screenings backed by a qualified team," said James Vanek, Columbus Community Hospital CEO. “This accreditation is a testament to our excellent mammography services and speaks to the overall quality of care we offer our community.”

In addition to clear images, the digital mammography technology used at Columbus Community Hospital helps radiologists identify abnormalities with computer-aided detection (CAD) technology while delivering less radiation than older screening technology. The National Breast Cancer Foundation recommends that women get a yearly mammogram once they reach the age of 40, as early detection dramatically improves outcomes for people diagnosed with the disease.

October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues to highlight the importance of screenings for the early detection of the disease. More than 200,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the U.S.
