FLATONIA — It got hot and heavy at Czhilispiel 51 in Flatonia during the weekend of Oct. 27. The barbecue pits were belching smoke and the jalapeño contest eaters were belching fire! There was something for everyone to do between the opening and the closing of the gates.
Barbecue teams started checking in on Oct. 27, and the musicians hit the stage. The Biergarten, Carnival, food booths and the Arts and Crafts opened to festival goers.
Saturday morning brought breakfast tacos, Czhili teams and a 5k run/walk to wake up to. Jackpot Bean, IBCA Pork Spare Ribs, CASI Czhili and IBCA Brisket get turned in, and the mouth begins to water as the food is judged. The Jalapeño Eating Contest, Young Farmers Egg Toss and more music.
The fun continued through Sunday with a car and truck show, carnival rides, the Czhilispiel Grand Parade through downtown Flatonia, and more music. Something for everyone or you just weren’t there.
