COLUMBUS — Columbus Historic Preservation Trust (CHPT) hosted the Women of Colorado County 2023 Histo- ry Forum Oct. 17 at the historic Stafford Opera House in Columbus.
Ester Chandler presented an interesting talk about the 'Women of Colorado County' - a closer look at women throughout thecounty’s history.
On behalf of CHPT, Julie Prause and Billy Kahn presented Tom and Lollie Raetzsch with the 2023 Laura Ann Rau Historic Preservation Award for their work on 1136 Milam, now called Little Milam. The Raetzsch’s were nominated by Sara Kohler.
The Raetzsch’s restoration work on the building brings historical accuracy harmonized with modern practicality, brings this building back to 1889, and gives a nod to Berger's Groceries.
Missy Parker gave an update on the 'Save Our Opera House' campaign, and light hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages were served.
