Many buildings are replicas of the homes and businesses in San Felipe from the past.

Stephen F. Austin established his headquarters in San Felipe. The true-tonature buildings and everyday utensils show what it was like to live and work in the early pioneers of American immigration to Texas before its independence. One of the earliest newspapers in Texas, the Texas Gazette, published its newspapers in San Felipe in 1829.

The settlement of San Felipe was burned to the ground during the runaway scrape of 1836.

Nevertheless, the town of San Felipe reemerged in 1836, and the rest, as they say, is history.
