Because of the generosity of the Columbus community, including the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, St. Paul Peru team was able to raise over $10,000 during 2023 to send to its sister congregation, Iglesia Cristiana Camino de Santidad in Cañete, Peru.
These funds were used to improve their church building. These improvements included completing the roof, installing a water cistern, placing stucco and then painting the outside walls, renovating/improving the bathrooms, and extending the outer perimeter walls.
They were also able to add a sign with the church’s name to the front of the building – a visible reminder to the community that the building is a church.
They continue to teach, preach and spread God’s love because of your generosity.
Due to political unrest in Peru earlier in 2023, large groups were discouraged from traveling, so the team decided not to go to Peru. However, Pastor Alan Kethan did travel to Lima and Cañete in July.
He was able to work alongside church members in Cañete to help with the improvements, attend church services, and continue building relationships with the congregation. He also brought back lots of wonderful pictures.
St. Paul’s Lutheran church expressed its thanks to everyone for their support and generosity during its drive-thru dinner fundraisers.
It is a blessing to be able to help those living in impoverishment. The St. Paul Lutheran Peru team is making plans to travel to Peru in the summer of 2024.
Be on the lookout for future fundraisers.
