CVFD award Firefighters of the Year

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department had a tie for the 2023 Firefighter of the Year award.

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department had a tie for the 2023 Firefighter of the Year award.

The tie went to Captain Allen Konvicka and Lt. Branden Schultz.

The award was presented Dec. 1 at the departments annaul Christmas Party at the Lighthouse at St. Paul Luthern Church in Columbus.

Nominations for Firefighter of the Year for 2023 included Hadley Sciba, Konvicka and Schultz.

Firefighter Will Schneider retired with 20 years of service while others received their service pins.

Those receiving their five-year service pin were Michael “Smitty” Smith, Pastor Alan Kethan, President Brian Emmel, John Obenhaus, Bradly Moffett and Jody Ripper.

Lt. Duane Naiser received his 15 years of service, Davy Pilsner received his 30 years of service, Brian Berger received his 35-year service pin and Donnie Templeton received his 45-year service pin.
