HEMPSTEAD — Fausto Romero-Lomeli, 37, was indicted by an Austin County Grand Jury for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child on Nov. 15. An Austin County deputy currently assigned to the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force was given the task of locating and arresting Romero-Lomeli.
On Nov.17, the Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force, along with the West Side Narcotics Task Force, surveilled a location in Hempstead, that Romero-Lomeli was associated with. At approximately 12:45 p.m., Romero-Lomeli was located, arrested and subsequently transported to the Austin County Jail in Bellville without incident.
The Austin County Sheriff’s Office is proud to be a partner agency of the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force and greatly appreciates the work they do. The Hempstead Police Department and the Austin County District Attorney's Office also took part in the operation to arrest Romero. This case was investigated by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
