SEALY — The Sealy High School boy’s soccer team impressed to start the season with a warm up scrimmage against Giddings High School Dec. 11 at T.J.
Mills Stadium in Sealy, defeating the Buffaloes by a final score of 4-0. There was no clock on the field, it was just a game where they played for about an hour and a half and the Tigers controlled the ball on offense and were able to attack for the majority of the game. “It was a nice game,” said Sealy head boy’s soccer coach Juan Perez.
“We have a lot of new people.
The feeling is we did something good today. We have a few starters from last year. Everything is positive for us right now.” Tigers forward Miguel Rodriguez scored the final goal of the match to put the icing on the cake. “It was a good pass and I just had a good finish," Rodriguez said on his goal. Sealy continued to threaten to score after Rodriguez’s goal, then Israel Santos put a shot on goal that hit the post a few minutes later. Anthony Venegas added to the offense by slicing through the defense and firing a ball just right of the goal eight minutes later to keep the pressure on Giddings.
The Buffaloes responded later in the game with a corner kick that ended up being on goal, but Sealy was able to make an easy save.
Another close shot on the net for the Tigers shortly after led to time running out and Sealy wrapping up a 4-0 win.
