BELLVILLE — Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes named a new honorary Austin County Sheriff’s deputy on Jan.
25. The family of Devarjaye "DJ" Dan -iel, a 10 year old that has been diagnosed with terminal brain and spine cancer, contacted the Austin County Sheriff’s Office requesting his swearing in as an honorary deputy with our agency.
His goal is to be sworn in by as many law enforcement agencies as he can.
Sheriff Brandes replied, asking “Why hasn’t Devarjaye come sooner, of course we will!"
By Jan. 31, Daniel was sworn in as an Honorary Deputy with the Ausitn Coun- ty Sheriff's Office.
“I am extremely honored to swear Devarjaye in as an Honorary Deputy with the Austin County Sheriff's Office," said Brandes.
