Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported on Nov. 29, 2023, around 12:29 p.m., Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 GMC Acadia on I-10 westbound at the 661 mile mark- er for traffic violations.
During contact with the driver, many criminal indicators were observed. Consent to search the vehicle was refused and Smith requested a canine for assistance. After Guadalupe County Sher- iff's Office Sgt. Dustin Crawford arrived and deployed his canine, Eddie, he immediately alerted to the vehicle for the presence of narcotics.
The driver then admitted to Smith he was delivering marijuana to an unknown location in San Antonio.
A probable cause search was conducted and Smith located a black trash bag in the rear cargo area of the SUV.
The black plastic trash bag contained 20 sealed bundles of high-grade hydro marijuana. Taken into custody and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange was 31-yearold Saul Nogueda Silva of Wichita, Kan., who was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana.
