Human Trafficking

Prevention Month

Texas is one of only many states that is dealing with human trafficking. With the unsecured borders of the U.S., human traf- ficking is on the rise as it filters throughout the U.S.

According to DPS and reported by the Texas Attorney

General's Office, last year over 1.6 million online commercial sex advertisements were shown in Texas, and over 25 percent of those contained suspected chil- dren. Sex trafficking is only one facet of human trafficking. Peo ple are used for forced labor in rural and urban parts of Texas.

Human trafficking awareness month is a great time to be aware in our communities of potential human trafficking and the possi bility of kidnappings.
