Marshall Eugene 'Gene' Johnsey, 80, of Weimar, Texas, passed away on January 4, 2024 in Schulenburg, Texas.
He was born on January 26, 1943 to Theron Johnsey and Barbara (Clark) Johnsey in Richardson, Texas. On July 16, 1988 he married Arlene Annette Ursprung.
Gene worked as an Aerospace Electrical Engineer with Philco Ford, Aeronutronic Ford, Ford Aerospace, Loral and Lockheed Martin. Gene was a contributor on many projects throughout his career. Most of his efforts were in support of the Control Center at Johnson Space Center in Houston for the Apollo, Skylab and Shuttle manned flight programs. Gene also contributed to major projects at Johnson
Space Center. He and his staff worked on several U.S. Air Force electrical hardware contracts for use in various parts of the world.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus, Texas. Gene had hard-to-miss bright blue eyes, a beaming smile and delightful laugh. He was witty, intelligent and his attention to detail hard to compete with. He en- joyed piloting hot air balloon flights with his friends and family, participating in various balloon festivals throughout the country. He was skilled at woodworking, and loved traveling and was someone who had an ongoing fascination for all things historical.
Gene is survived by his wife Arlene Johnsey; son Warren Eugene Johnsey; stepdaughter Makenzie Allen and husband Carlos Evans; stepsons Reginald Allen, Toby Allen and wife Abby; sister Cindy Barr; grandchildren Graham Brown, Cydnie Brown, Tobia Troiani, Cooper Allen, Colbie Allen, and Copen Allen.
He was preceded in death by parents Theron and Barbara Johnsey. Funeral service will be Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas with Pastor Sunshine Reyes officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
