Senate Bill 1, went into effect Dec. 2, 2021, which includes legislation that impacts Ballot by Mail Operations in Colorado County.
The bill establishes additional rules for identification require ments for voting by mail. Voters will be asked to provide their full driver’s license number or, if they don’t have one, their last four digits of your Social Security number directly on the applications for ballots.
The same identification must also be provided on the envelope used to return their completed ballot.
This information must match what is already on file in the indi vidual’s voter record.

• If we spot any mistakes, we will proactively reach out to you directly to address any inconsistencies if you included a phone number or email when registering to vote. If not, we will mail you a letter with follow-up information if applicable, however, there is a very limited window to rectify mistakes.
• If you are not sure of the identifier you used to register to vote please contact our office and we will assist you.
A new application must be submitted yearly. Applications for Ballot by Mail had to be submitted to the Colorado County Election Office before Jan. 1.
Please call the Colorado Coun- ty Election office to have an ap plication mailed directly to you.
You cannot request an applica tion for another person or family member.
If you submit an annual application before Feb. 23, all four 2024 election ballots will be mailed to you.
