FC Feral Hog Contest

The Fayette County county- wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County. The feral hog population causes economic losses to Fayette County Agriculture producers through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environmental damage.

The Fayette County county- wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County. The feral hog population causes economic losses to Fayette County Agriculture producers through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environmental damage.

The contest started on Jan. 8, and ends on April 30. Prize money will be awarded to the in- dividuals who officially enter the most feral hogs during the contest. Fayette County Commissioner's Court, Fayette County Farm Bureau, and an anonymous donor are providing premium money in the following amounts: first-$250, sec ond-$200, third-$175, fourth-$150, fifth-$125, sixth-$100, 7sev enth-$75, eighth-$50, ninth-$50, and 10th-$25.

Contest rules are as follows: All feral hog ears entered in this contest must be taken in Fayette County.

Feral hogs can be taken by any lawful method, but it is illegal to buy a feral hog from another person to enter in the contest.

The animal’s ears must be brought in, to be eligible for the contest. All feral hog ears entered in the program will be marked by being spray painted and will become the property of Fayette County.

No ears from domestic hogs will be accepted.

Official check in location will be located at the Texas A&M AgriL- ife Extension Service Office at 255 Svoboda Ln., Room 134, in La Grange.

Official check-in will only be taken at this location during their normal business hours.
