COLUMBUS - Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) recently exhibited their Pioneer Life Trunk to Kelsey Bohuslav's fourth grade class at Saint Anthony Catholic School in Columbus. Kathleen Townzen and Donna Pustejovsky from the Dilue Rose Harris chapter presented various replica items from the mid-1800s. These 'artifacts' would be used in everyday life, such as maps and currency, household items, toys, and games. As each item was presented, students were able to handle, experiment and enjoy. The class was excited to participate and afterward enjoyed after- noon snacks.
