Being a poll worker is a critical service to the public. Colorado County is always looking for Elec- tion Officials such as Judges, Alt.
Judges, Clerks, Bi-lingual Clerks, and Student Clerks.
What does it take? Commitment, training, and a l-o-n-g election day.
In the March 05, 2024, JOINT Primary, there is a particularly urgent need for new volunteers to step up to staff the polls. Poll workers are scheduled in advance, so finding these hard-working individuals now is imperative.
To meet eligibility, a volunteer must be able to work from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on election day with various hours, must be able to read and speak English, be registered to vote in Colorado County, except for students and, Student workers must be 16 and get parent permission. The volunteer must complete training and a criminal background check.
Duties of the volunteer may include: • Set up voting equipment, poll books, and other materials at designated polling districts.
• Assist voters with sign-in and verify signatures.
• If necessary, assist voters in the operation of the electronic voting machine.
• Answer voter's procedural questions.
• When necessary complete paperwork.
• Close polls at the end of the day.
