FORT WORTH — Colorado County 4-H members had a successful weekend at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Dairy Judging Contest in Fort Worth.
The youth evaluated heifers and cows in the Jersey, Brown Swiss and Holstein breeds, as well as giving a set or two (for seniors) of oral reasons as to why they placed a class.
Senior team members include Jack Dudensing, Colten Koy, Lana Potter and Jase Rau; and junior team members include Henry Jones, Caden Koy, Jacob Koy and Khloe Woolard
The junior team placed Overall – eighth place; Brown Swiss first place; Holstein ninth place; Jersey – sixth place; and Reasons – 13th place.
Jacob Koy was fourth place overall.
The senior team scores counted for both the Fort Worth Contest and the Texas 4-H State Dairy Judging Contest.
Fort Worth results for senior team were Overall – second place; Brown Swiss- third place; Holstein – sixth place; Jersey – second place; Reasons – fourth place.
Potter placed fourth senior individual and Dudensing 10th place senior individual.
Texas 4-H State Dairy Contest results were second place team.
Potter placed second individual; Dudensing fifth place indi vidual; Rau 12th place individual; and Colten Koy 13th place individual.
Because the senior team placed second in the State Contest, they qualified to compete in the Dairy Judging Contest at the North Am. Int'l Livestock Expo sition in Louisville, Ky.
