Bellville PD makes drug arrests

BELLVILLE – During the overnight hours of Jan. 20, K-9 Officer Andrew Freude and Officer Johari Brown, conduct ed a welfare check on a vehicle parked in the roadway within the 600 block of East Main Street in Bellville. The officers also observed a subject from the car walking from the wood line that is adjacent to the railroad tracks in the same area.

BELLVILLE — During the overnight hours of Jan. 20, K-9 Officer Andrew Freude and Officer Johari Brown, conduct ed a welfare check on a vehicle parked in the roadway within the 600 block of East Main Street in Bellville. The officers also observed a subject from the car walking from the wood line that is adjacent to the railroad tracks in the same area.

Upon further investigation of the subject and vehicle, two additional subjects were found to be inside the vehicle. The subjects were identified as Carlos Jef frey, 19, Carlos Aguilar, 20, and Carlos Arriaga, 20, all from the Houston area.

All three subjects were ultimately arrested for Possession of Marijuana 4oz > 5 lbs (State Jail Felony). In addition, Arriaga was arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, a Class A Misdemeanor and Theft of a Firearm, a State Jail Felony. All three were booked into the Austin County Jail.

Chief Jason Smalley said, "It's unfortunate that we are seeing so many young people mingling with narcotics now and furthering the problem by possessing firearms in most cases."

He further stated, “we have to keep the pressure on this type of activity, and send a strong and clear message, that we will not tolerate it in our community, so that we aren't inundated with this criminal element as we move forward.”
