WEIMAR — Weimar Independant School District was recently awarded $6,000 from the Weimar Methodist Foundation.
The funds will be used to support scholarships for WISD high school students taking dual credit classes from Blinn College as part of the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS). The ACCSS scholarship fund is housed at the Fayette Community Foundation.
Donations can be made by individuals, philanthropies, or businesses that are interested in supporting students in their community who are pursuing college credits while in high school to https://myaccess.net/ donations/. Traditional scholar- ships and financial aid are not available to these students, who pay $318 per 3-credit-hour academic course.
Though this fee is signifi cantly discounted from what a traditional college student pays, it can be difficult, especially for schools whose student populations are over 50% economically disadvantaged.
Scholarships such as this open the door to all students interested and willing to put in the work to pursue their post-secondary goals.
ACCSS and WISD are very thankful to the Weimar Methodist Foundation for investing in the future of Weimar and its youth.
