COLUMBUS — Singer/songwriter Darrel Appelt, DJ at KULM and musician, saw his new record release, Why Wait, climb 12 spots to number 64 in the Texas Regional Radio charts. Breaking the 100 number is a feat in itself, but the song, Why Wait, has touched the hearts and souls of many country-western fans.
This song, and many like this that Ap- pelt has written, speaks of personal ex periences that fans can relate to in many ways. The chart is based on statewide radio airplay and the number of requests.
Appelt opines, “It’s incredible just to have a charted country song, but the message in this record is what we really hope to get to as many people as possible. We appreciate the radio stations and the internet outlets for getting on board with it. I know God inspired me to write Why Wait, and I am extremely thankful that we were able to put it on the new album, and it looks like we’re touching the hearts of quite a few folks.”
Appelt has been a musician for 44 years. In the last three years, he has recorded 30 songs, many of which are being downloaded across the globe. However, he isn’t looking for fame nor fortune. He wanted to leave a legacy behind for his grandkids and beyond. He is very happy with “spinning records” and DJing. He likes to play in small venues where everyone knows everyone.
While there are thousands of cover singers, Appelt broke the 100 chart because he wanted to follow his dream.
It must be in the family genes because his son, who goes by the stage name William Kyle, is sitting at number 65 on the Top 100 charts. So…why wait! Just do it.
