Join the Red Door Fund for Mental Health in building stronger, safer, and more vibrant communities where every door is a gateway to hope and support. In 2021, this heartfelt initiative, motivated by a four-year-old artist's innocent creation, came to life with the establishment of The Red Door Fund for Mental Health, a program of the Fayette Community Foundation.

The initial inspiration for the Red Door Fund originated from a local child's artwork that spoke volumes. A seemingly random red door in a drawing became a powerful symbol of hope, love, and solace, especially for those navigating the challenging territory of mental illness and loss. The founders, touched by the profound world-wide meaning of a red door, envisioned creating a network of support and understanding in rural regions where mental health resources are often limited.

Today, as we embark on a new year, the Red Door Fund proudly reflects on its journey of spread ing mental health awareness and support in our rural area, fueled by compassion and community solidarity. Since its inception in 2021, the Red Door Fund has been instrumental in raising $130,181, strategically investing $111,143 back into the community. These community donations have been channeled towards improving mental health awareness, education, and expanding local mental health services and providers based on community priorities.

Over the past years, the Red Door Fund's February campaign has inspired over 60,000 individuals to become 'Red Doors' themselves, symbolizing their commitment to promoting a supportive environment within our rural community.

This February, the campaign returns with renewed energy, aiming to surpass previous successes and beautify the region with even more red doors and driveways.

Looking ahead to 2024, the Red Door Fund has secured a generous $25,000 matching donation. With the community's support, the goal is to raise an additional $25,000, resulting in a total investment of $50,000 to further mental health awareness and services in the region.

'We want to encourage every- one to join our mission and be a part of this positive change in mental health awareness and access locally,' said Cheryl Pekar, Fayette Community Foundation board member and chair of the Red Door Fund for Mental Health.

Individuals and businesses can actively participate by decorating their doors red this February, symbolizing their commitment to mental health advocacy. Donations to The Red Door Fund not only contribute to meeting the matching donation but also directly support local individuals and families struggling with mental illness.
