COLUMBUS – A formation meeting for the Columbus Senior Citizens Center will be held Wednesday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nesbitt Memorial Library in Columbus. Come give your feedback and what you would like to see in the center. The future senior center will be for active seniors seeking things to do and have fun.

EL LIONS TO HOLD PANCAKE FUNDRAISER

EAGLE LAKE — The Eagle Lake Lions Club are selling tickets for its annual Pancake Supper Fundraiser to be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Center in Eagle Lake. The $12 meal, dine-in or take out, will also include sausage. Contact a Eagle Lake Lions Club member for tickets.

COLUMBUS VFD PLANS OYSTER/FISH FRY

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Chamber of Commerce will hold its oyster and fish fry Sunday, Feb. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Hall in Columbus. The meal will be served dine-in or drive thru. The oyster/fish meal is $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Fish only meal is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The event will include the Bucket Brigade Sweepstakes. CASINO ROYALE EVENT PLANNED

SEALY — The Sealy American Legion will hold its 2nd Annual Casino Royale Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Sealy American Legion Hall in Sealy. The doors open at 6 p.m. The event will include stew or gumbo meals serving beginning at 6. Casino games will be from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be chances to win guns and gift cards. There will also be a silent auction and cash bar. Tickets are $25 each or five for $100. For ticket information, call (713) 296-9387.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION SET

SCHULENBURG — Stevens Chapel UMC in Schulenburg will hold a Black History Month community celebration and church service Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19. A parade will kick off Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.. The event will include a Black History program, food, music and fun. DOMINO TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD

LA GRANGE — The La Grange KC Community Center located at 190 S. Brown in La Grange will host a domino tournament Sunday, Feb. 26. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and play starts at 10 a.m. Prize will be awarded according to entries. Straight or 42 Round Robin play for $20 per team. A barbecue chicken dinner will be avilable for $10.

EAGLE LAKE SEWER AVERAGING

EAGLE LAKE — The City of Eagle Lake will have their annual residential sewer rates determined by water consumption now through March 15. The readings for these three months are averaged and that average will be the sewer charge for the next 12 months, starting April 1. Customers are encouraged to fix any water leaks as soon as possible and limit water usage (like watering grass or washing cars) in an effort to keep water consumptions at a minimum during this time. Each residential sewer rate is based on the actual water consumed at that particular location.

WALDECK FOOD TRUCK CHANGES

WALDECK — The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) has decided to discontinue serving food as a drive-thru format. Now the Waldeck food truck will have food distribution as a walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it. Waldeck food truck is on third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. The 2023 dates are: Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

FRELSBURG KC PLANS FISH FRYS

FRELSBURG — The Frelsburg Knights of Columbus Council No. 5157 will sponsor its Friday Night Fish Frys, drive-thru only, Feb. 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Diamond Center in Frelsburg. The catfish togo meals are $15 per plate and fish by the pound $15 per pound.

Homemade desserts will be available by St. Anne’s Altar Society.

Raffle tickets will be available at the drive-thru.

LIBRARY PLANS BOARD GAME NIGHT

COLUMBUS — The Nesbitt Memorial Library will hold Family Board Game Night, Thursday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. at 529 Washington St. in Columbus. Games will include Monopoly, Quirkle, Buzz Word, Hit or Miss, and Likewise. For more information, call (979) 732-3392.

EAGLE LAKE —The Eagle Lake Knights of Columbus #4843 will be serving fried fish meal (drive-thru) at $12 per plate Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Parish of the Nativity Pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m.

ACF TO SERVE CHICKEN FRIED STEAK MEAL

BELLVILLE — The Austin County Fair chicken fried steak dinner, benefitting the Austin County Fair Junior Fair Board, will be held Tuesday, March 21 at teh Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville.
