FORT WORTH — Cooper Mau, a senior from Fayetteville ISD and president of the Fayette County 4-H, had an outstanding week at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. He won a $16,000 scholarship by emerging victorious in the Beef Heifer Superintendent Chal lenge.
The challenge featured 75 elite senior heifer exhibitors who took a test about industry knowledge. The top test takers then competed in the finals, where they had to give a sales pitch for the breed they were exhibiting.
Mau also participated in the junior showcase with his homegrown Simbrah heifer earning the reserve breed champion honors, concluding a fantastic week.
Following graduation, Mau plans to use his scholarship to attend Texas Tech or Texas A&M University for an Animal Science degree, hoping to continue his involvement with the agriculture industry and better Texas agriculture.
