AUSTIN – Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced on Jan. 30 the Texas General Land Office (GLO) approved $122,100,689 in regional mitigation funds to improve streets, drainage, and sewer systems in Burleson, Colorado, Galveston, Jefferson, Lavaca, Orange, Sabine, San Augustine, San Patricio and Waller Counties.

Through the Regional Mitigation Program, the GLO enabled local prioritization, which will have a tremendous impact across multiple regions.

“The GLO takes pride in fostering community growth and investing in projects that protect local infrastructure, businesses and homes in Texas,” said Commissioner Buckingham. “My team works tirelessly to streamline the federal process to ensure funding is expedited for tangible projects that safeguard our communities.

All projects are prioritized for fellow Texans who will directly benefit from the improvements, and we are always committed to driving these initiatives forward.

We cut through bureaucratic red tape to ensure the well-being of our beloved Texas communities.”

Columbus secured $1,018,300 for Generator and Drainage Improvements. Columbus also secured another $15,811,189 through the Houston-Galveston Area Council for the Treatment Plant improvement.

This HGAC funding was deemed priority because of the impending collapse of the treatment plant into the Colorado River.
